The Incredible Journey of Rocket

Rocket, our Australian cattle dog, has an origin story of resilience, love, and second chances. As the runt of his litter, being the smallest and weakest, he almost missed out on a wonderful life. 

Fortunately, fate intervened, and his story is truly extraordinary.

A Rough Start

Rocket was the runt of the litter. His body was tiny and frail, and he was malnourished from the lack of milk he received from his mother, no matter how much he tried to get past the other pups. They had bitten off his tail, chewed on his ears, and he had lost most of his eyesight, which made it hard for him to fight for what he needed to survive.

We were in the area, about to pick one of their other pups, when we saw the owner holding a very fragile puppy. He was smaller than a child’s shoe, and our hearts broke; we knew this puppy was ours at that moment, so we asked if we could take him home. We knew that the likelihood of Rocket's survival was stacked against him, but we decided that even if we could only give him one week of love, attention, and fun, we would make him the happiest puppy alive!



In the beginning, he required our full attention. We have two other dogs that we had to look out for, who also needed love and care, which made it challenging to divide our focus. We had to hold him while he went to the bathroom because his legs were not strong enough to hold him up, and we had to hold him tight for most of the day to stop him from crying and to help him feel safe. He walked with a tilted head because of a previous injury and would walk in circles for long periods of time.

It didn’t matter how many problems or injuries he had, we never gave up on him. We nurtured and fed him rice, milk, and honey until he looked like a completely different dog. His tail grew, he was stronger and healthier, and he started to develop the habit of jumping up on things. We proved that no matter how difficult a situation can get, resilience and love will always come through. Even when we have the weakest beginning, we can turn it into extraordinary growth.

Rocket entered our lives at a time when he most needed help. Many of our clients can identify with him when they call us during stressful situations or emergencies, because he was uncertain and looking for a solution. Rocket's presence serves as a constant reminder of why we do what we do, because he's not just a wagging tail in the workplace and at home. Rocket makes us all smile on bad days, soothes anxiety when things get out of control, and demonstrates the power of a little love and compassion. 

Rocket serves as a daily reminder of the impact that a helping hand and a little warmth can have, and we take pride in showing that to every single one of our customers, and as for Rocket, he is strong, healthy & a proud member of our family! ❤️ 🐾
